Volnay, Clos de La Chapelle: Vines are 55 years old. Below to Pousse d'Or cave on the other side of the lane. "This terroir is hidden and protected," says Pierre Meurgey. "When we spent time in the vines, it was clear that there was a 2-degree difference between this and the climate in Taillepieds." The soil is deeper. Intense and upright aroma. More tension in this wine than the Sous de La Chapelle. Still very curvaceous but with a stricter note underneath. More vigour which carries onto a longer fine finish. Fine. Score: 18. From 2017.

Volnay, Carelle Sous la Chapelle: Rich in velvet fruit. Very juicy and full. Very Volnay, in its curvaceous, almost voluptuous body, soft tannins, and very come-hither appeal. Particularly good to fine. Score: 17.75. From 2016.

Pommard, Les Chanlins: The first year [fully made by the Domaine] and that it has been worked biodynamically. 80-year-old vines. This is straight and pure and lively on the palate. Good tension and vigour. Well defined and vivid palate with a long and mineral finish. An elegant Pommard. Fine to fine+. Score: 18.25. From 2016.
