2021 Beaune “Les Teurons”: (from a .27 ha holding though only .12 ha is presently producing). A fresh if quite somber nose features notes of various dark berries, earth and a violet top note. The nicely rich and generously proportioned middleweight flavors possess an almost delicate mouthfeel while delivering solid length on the balanced finish that is shaped by nicely finegrained tannins. This could use better depth but a few years of keeping should address that. 89-92 points

2021 Beaune “Champs Pimont”: (from a .63 ha holding). Fresh, layered and pretty aromas include those of crushed red cherry, earth and a whiff of anise seed. The racy and beautifully detailed medium weight flavors are not quite as concentrated but I very much like the sophisticated texture which carries over to the youthfully austere finale. This could also use a bit more overall depth though like the Teurons, a few years of cellaring should help. 88-91 points

2021 Volnay “En Carelle”: (from Carelles sous la Chapelle). A deft application of wood sets off appealingly spicy aromas of plum, dark raspberry and a similar array of floral wisps. There is slightly better mid-palate density to the more mineral-inflected flavors that flash good if not distinguished persistence on the youthfully austere finale. Once again, this could use better depth but the underlying material, as well as the necessary structure, appears to be present for that to occur in time. 88-91 points

2021 Volnay “Clos de la Chapelle”: (a .55 ha monopole). Here too there is a deft application of wood to the pretty and perfumed nose of red currant, violet and an interesting hint of tangerine peel. As is usually the case, the mouthfeel of the beautifully delineated flavors is delicate, silky and refined yet with no lack of punch that carries over to the lightly stony, youthfully austere and balanced finale that is notably more complex. Lovely stuff with excellent development potential. 90-93 points

2021 Volnay “1er”: (from a parcel of .21 ha young vines in Taillepieds). Subtle but not imperceptible wood frames cool and restrained aromas of herbal tea, red pinot fruit and subtle spice wisps. The generously proportioned yet nicely precise and stony middleweight flavors possess very good power for the young vines, all wrapped in a balanced and markedly firm finale. This wellmade effort is going to require at least a few years of patience to more completely unwind. 89-92 points

2021 Volnay “Les Taillepieds Vieilles Vignes”: (from a parcel of .21 ha). This is the first wine to display any meaningful reduction and it’s enough to push the fruit to the background. The richer and bigger-bodied flavors possess very fine mid-palate density along with excellent minerality that adds a sense of lift to the dusty, youthfully austere and strikingly persistent finale. As is often the case with a classic example of Taillepieds, this is very tightly wound and compact and will require fully 12 to 15 years to reach its peak. Recommended. 91-93 points 

2021 Pommard “Les Chanlins Vieilles Vignes”: (from a .25 ha parcel). A deeply pitched yet still quite cool nose reflects notes of red and dark cherry, freshly turned earth and pretty floral wisps. There is both excellent delineation and underlying tension suffusing the moderately dense medium weight flavors that also flash focused power and ample minerality on the youthfully austere, dusty and balanced finale. Lovely and quite understated in style. 90-93 points 

2021 Corton-Bressandes: (from a parcel of .21 ha). Moderately generous wood influence is present on the ripe yet decidedly cool aromas of both red and dark currant that are nuanced by earth and sauvage nuances. There is very good detail to the refined but solidly punchy medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a youthfully austere, powerful and and tightly wound finale. This could use better overall depth but that should come with time in bottle. 90-93 points

2021 Beaune “Les Reversées” (from a .34 ha parcel). An overtly floral nose combines notes of petrol and citrus zest with those of apple and anise wisps. There is both a lovely sense of energy and volume to the seductively textured medium weight flavors that terminate in a linear, clean and dry finale. This could use better depth but it's already quite pretty and should drink well both young and with a few years of keeping. 89 points

2021 Pernand-Vergelesses “Sous Frétille” (from a .13 ha parcel) A cooler and airier nose features more citrus influences on the pretty floral, orange peel and petrol aromas where a top note of mineral reduction can be found. The markedly stonier middleweight flavors possess a beguiling sense of underlying tension while delivering good if not genuinely special length on the bone-dry, youthfully austere and balanced finale. A few years of keeping should help to add depth. 89 points

2021 Corton-Charlemagne (from a .35 ha parcel) Subtle if still easily perceptible wood frames the equally cool and beautifully layered aromas of green apple, crushed fennel, Asian-style tea and wet stone. The gorgeously textured medium weight plus flavors possess a lovely blend of richness and precision, all wrapped in a moderately austere and strikingly long finish. This does need to develop better depth, but the potential certainly appears to be present for that to occur if held for 6 to 8 years first. Very promising. 93 points
