2022 Beaune 1er cru “Les Teurons” (from a .27 ha holding though only .12 ha is presently producing). Pretty and fresh aromas of poached plum, black cherry and earth give way to lush yet relatively fine middleweight flavors that exhibit very good length on the youthfully austere, dusty and balanced finale. This could use better depth but that should be just a matter of some patience. 90-93 points/2030+
2022 Beaune 1er cru “Champs Pimont”(from a .63 ha holding). This is aromatically similar to the Les Teurons with the addition of a touch of kirsch. The slightly sleeker and finer medium weight flavors also conclude in a dusty, youthfully austere and slightly more complex finale that is also noticeably firmer. Lovely. 91-93 points 2032+
2022 Volnay 1er cru “En Carelle” (from Carelles sous la Chapelle). An elegant and airy nose portrays the perfumed essence of red cherry, raspberry and cool floral wisps. The equally elegant and refined flavors possess a lacy, even lilting, mouthfeel but with no lack of punch on the precise, minerally and youthfully austere finale where a hint of bitter pit fruit appears. This is pretty much textbook Carelle.

2022 Volnay 1er cru “Santenots du Milieu” A slightly riper nose features a layered blend of various dark berries and an array of floral elements, especially violet. There is both good volume and focused power to the larger-scaled mineral-inflected flavors that conclude in a dusty, firm and robust finale. This too could use better depth but that is also just a matter of sufficient bottle aging. Very promising.

2022 Volnay 1er cru “Clos de la Chapelle” (a .55 ha monopole). Much like the Carelle, the expressive nose is airy, cool and super fresh with its essence of red berry, spice and rose petal scents. The wonderfully sleek, precise and stony middleweight flavors possess a lovely sense of underlying tension along with a gorgeous mouthfeel, all wrapped in a firm, youthfully austere and impressively long finale. This is a classic Volnay of lace and grace. 91–94 points 2032+
2022 Volnay 1er cru (from a parcel of .21 ha young vines in Taillepieds). A riper nose is comprised by notes of poached plum, black pinot fruit liqueur and a whiff of kirsch. The rich, punchy and surprisingly dense medium-bodied flavors, particularly for such young vines, culminate in a sappy but overtly austere finish where bitter pit fruit character is prominent. 89-92 points 2030+
2022 Volnay 1er cru Taillepieds vieilles vignes: (from a parcel of .21 ha). Firm reduction renders the nose impossible to assess. Otherwise, the similarly scaled flavors possess a more sophisticated mouthfeel that is at once caressing but almost painfully intense with evident minerality adding a sense of lift to the borderline chewy, and very serious, finale. This is most impressive in its fashion but not necessarily an iconic example. 92-94 points. 2034+
2022 Pommard Rue au Port vignes centenaires (from vines planted in 1919). A discreet application of wood sets off cool and pretty red berry fruit aromas that are trimmed in earth and sauvage nuances. The racy and delicious middleweight flavors are not especially dense but do possess a relatively fine texture and mouthfeel while delivering very solid persistence on the balanced, dusty and youthfully austere finale. This is really quite good for its level and worth considering. 89-91 points 2030+
2022 Pommard 1er cru Les Chanlins très vieilles vignes: (from a .25 ha parcel). An exuberantly spicy nose features a range of red berries along with a pretty floral top note. The round, supple and enveloping medium-bodied flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the youthfully austere finale that tightens up considering. Patience will be required. 90-93 points 2032+
2022 Pommard 1er cru Grands Epenots This is also exuberantly spicy with its mix of red currant, plum, earth and suggestion of exotic tea. As one would reasonably expect, there is notably more volume, but with less minerality, to the broad-shouldered and caressing flavors that flash very good power on the youthfully austere, balanced and built-to-age finish. 91-94 points 2034+
2022 Corton Bressandes Grand Cru (from a parcel of .21 ha). Here the ripe and fresh nose is quite floral in character with its essence of red cherry aromas where background hints of earth and the sauvage lurk. The rich, delicious and similarly scaled flavors prim with sappy dry extract that buffers the firm tannic spine shaping the moderately austere, compact and serious finish. This is a classic Bressandes that’s definitely going to require some patience. 92-94 points 2034+

2022 Beaune 1er cru “Les Reversées”: There is enough reduction to warrant a short stay in a decanter. Otherwise, the sleek, intense and nicely detailed middleweight flavors exude a subtle minerality on the youthfully austere and agreeably dry finale. This could use better depth so a few years of keeping should be helpful in that regard. 89 points/2027+
2022 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er cru “Sous Frétille”: Here too there is just enough reduction to push the white fleshed fruit scents trimmed in subtle wood nuances to the background. There is again excellent delineation and verve to the delicious medium weight flavors that also conclude in a lingering and intensely mineral-driven finish where a touch of bitter lemon arises. Note that while this could be enjoyed young, a few years of keeping should serve to add depth. Lovely and understated in style, indeed this is very Pernand in basic character. 90 points 2028+
2022 Meursault Cuvée Confluence: (a blend from .41 ha in Les Vignes Blanches and .20 ha in En Marcausse). A very Meursault-like nose blends notes of hazelnut, acacia blossom, citrus rind and a touch of mineral reduction, all of which is again trimmed in subtle wood influence. The rich and vibrant flavors exude a more subtle minerality on the delicious, balanced and youthfully austere finale. This is a quality Meursault villages that could be enjoyed young or with 6 to 8 years of aging. 89 points/2028+
2022 Meursault “Vignes Blanches”: Pungent aromas of firm reduction and wood render the nose tough to evaluate. Much more interesting are the super-sleek, intense and fresh middleweight flavors that are slightly finer and particularly so on the chiseled, sneaky long and youthfully austere finally. This is excellent for its level and recommended. 90 points/2030+
2022 Meursault 1er cru “Charmes”: (from a .125 ha parcel). An expressive and beautifully layered nose combines notes of acacia blossom, lemon-lime and a whiff of mineral reduction. The beautifully textured and more concentrated medium-bodied flavors are also finer while delivering excellent length on the solidly powerful, bone-dry and youthfully austere finale. This could use better depth but it is clearly quite tightly wrapped such that it should have no trouble aging gracefully. 92 points/2030+
2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (from a .30 ha holding in En Charlemagne on the Pernand side). Fresh and ripe aromas are comprised by notes of citrus confit, spice and just sliced green apple plus a discreet dollop of wood. There is borderline painful intensity to the dense, serious and palate staining medium weight flavors that are overtly mineral-driven on the tautly muscular and hugely long finish. Once again, more depth would be a plus but that should only be a matter of patience. 93 points/2032+
2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Cuvée Exceptionnelle: (from En Charlemagne in Pernand where the élevage is extended to 27 months from its normal 15 to 16 months). There is a vague whiff of the exotic lurking in the background of the petrol, pear and apple compote and lemon where a hint of phenolic character is present. The round, succulent and equally intense largerbodied flavors flash both evident minerality and power that seems to build on the bone-dry yet not really austere finale. This is very clearly built to repay extended keeping and I would advise not touching a bottle for at least 5 years and 10 would be better still. 93 points/2033+
